The early life of Swami Vivekananda

On 12 January 1863, Swami Vivekananda was born in a Bengali family in Kolkata.

In childhood, his name was Narendra Nath Dutt and his father’s name was Vishwanath. His father was a lawyer in the High Court of Kolkata and his mother Bhuvaneshwari spent most of his time in the worship of Lord Shiva.

Swami Vivekananda’s mother used to tell him stories of Mahabharat, Ramayan and Puran from childhood.

Swami Vivekananda completed his early studies with the Metropolitan Institution of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. And then topper the Presidency College in 1979. Here he achieved mastery in all subjects like philosophy, history and social science. And then completed the Bachelor’s degree in 1884.

Swami Vivekananda and RamKrishna Paramahamsa meet

After completing his education in 1884, Swami Vivekananda met a religious teacher named Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.

Swami Vivekananda and Ramakrishna used to sit together and talk about spirituality. Ram Krishna’s words had a great effect on Swami Vivekananda and Vivekananda started accepting Ram Krishna ji as his religion Guru.

Starting struggle in the life of Swami Vivekananda

In 1884, conflicts started in the life of Swami Vivekananda. At this time his father died suddenly and his family’s financial condition deteriorated greatly.

After the death of his father, all the responsibility of the family had come to Swami Vivekananda and he started looking for a job but he could not find a job anywhere.

In this situation, Swami Vivekananda started questioning the existence of God. His guru Ram Krishna called him and gave him knowledge, saying that you should worship Kali Mata and believe in God. Swami Vivekananda obeyed Ram Krishna and started going to the temple, and started worshipping Bhagwan.

During this time, Swami Vivekananda comes to mind that he does not want any happiness in the world, he has to know about God, and wanted to help people throughout their life, wanted to share knowledge with people.

With this idea, Swami Vivekananda goes to the ashram of Ram Krishna and starts exploring spirituality.

Ram Krishna suffered from cancer in 1885 and suddenly died on 16 August 1886. After his death, Swami Vivekananda also decided to spend his entire life as a monk and from this, his name became Swami Vivekananda.

By 1889, Swami Vivekananda had attained good knowledge and in the same year, Vivekananda left the ashram of Ram Krishna and went to different states of India to help people and start sharing knowledge among people.

Swami Vivekananda’s visit to America

In 1893, Swami Vivekananda went to America to join a gathering. After reaching America, the people there made fun of Swami Vivekananda, seeing their dress, people were laughing.

Swami Vivekananda went to the stage and started his speech, after his speech was over, the existing millions played applause for 2 minutes continuously.

All the people present there were surprised by the speech of Swami Vivekananda. People liked his speech very much. All the people of America were very much impressed by Swami Vivekananda’s speech. After living in America for 2 years, Swami Vivekananda shared knowledge with people and inspired them with his thoughts.

Swami Vivekananda’s last days of life, and death

Swami Vivekananda returned to India and his health started deteriorating, so he stopped travelling. And started teaching yoga to people for free.

Similarly, he continued to share knowledge and teach yoga to people throughout his life.

Suddenly, He died on 4 July 1902 in West Bengal.
