In the year 1969, Amitabh Bachchan made his big screen debut with the hindi movie “Saat Hindustani”, and four decades later, he is still busy with entertaining the audience with his various type of performances. At the age of 76 will receive the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2019.
Prakash Javadekar: Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Minister of India took to Twitter to make the big announcement. He wrote on Twitter, “The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest Congratulations to him.”
The announcement was delayed because on account of the Lok Sabha elections 2019. Announcements of National Film Awards was postponed by a few months because of Lok Sabha elections.
Amitabh Bachchan told India Today TV,”I am deeply grateful and so humbled. My sincerest gratitude,”.
B-town extends best wishes to Amitabh Bachchan for Dadasaheb Phalke award
After the announcement of Dadasaheb Phalke Award for Big B, megastar congratulated on social media with best wishes from his fraternity friends.

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar said to India Today Television, “Main kya kahun unke [Amitabh Bachchan] baare mein. Poori duniya kehti hai ki woh bahut bade artiste hai, aur bahut achche insaan hain. Mujhe unki saari filmein pasand hai. Lekin unhone Anand mein bada achcha kaam kiya hai.”
Asha Bhosle, is a part of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Jury Member, said: “As a Dadasaheb Phalke Award Jury Member, I am pleased to congratulate Shri Amitabh Bachchanji on his getting this prestigious award.”
Filmmaker R Balki, told to PTI: “Amitabh Bachchan will be the first person to win a best actor award after winning the Dada Saheb Phalke award.”
The Dada Saheb Phalke award, the highest recognition in Indian cinema. Last year, at the 65th National Awards, Vinod Khanna was conferred for his priceless contribution to Indian cinema.
