You’ve just moved into your new home, and are really excited to deck it up. But the downer is that your house is rented, so you don’t want to spend too much on it but yet want it to look amazing. Don’t fret as there are enough options that can look chic and stylish and yet be easy on the wallet. We understand that rental properties need to strike a balance between durability and style that can be hard to accomplish. The flooring of your home forms the canvas and can change the entire space. You want something that looks nice and will contribute to the atmosphere of the home, but you don’t want the wear and tear that comes with a rental property to cause permanent, unattractive damage. Here are a few options we would recommend you look at to help decide what would be best suited for you.
Laminate Wood Flooring – It is cheap, easy to install and looks great. Also, it works as a great alternate to hardwood flooring. They are available in a number of colours, shades and even laying patterns. This is a great option for pet owners. No need to worry about scratches, water spills or occasional accidents. Laminate floors don’t require much maintenance, and they can be cleaned with just a damp mop or dust mop. If you have a lot of uneven surfaces, humps, or dips, it would be a good idea to level that out first before installing the laminate flooring. It is usually installed on the existing tile flooring with a layer of foam in-between. So there is no glue or cement involved.
Vinyl – This is literally the cheapest option but doesn’t look very great. Vinyl flooring has been around forever, it’s durable, waterproof, and easy to maintain. There is no sealing or grouting required and it is inexpensive to replace when it gets damaged or old. Vinyl flooring is commonly used in bathrooms, kitchens, and basements but we would definitely use it in areas prone to water leakage.
Cement Tiles – The newest trend is cement tiles. They can be customized to any pattern or colour you want. Cement tiles are very popular if you especially want a vintage look for your home. These are perfect if you want to create a style statement on your floor and then go simple with the rest of your home.
Terrazzo –These tiles that are beautifully vintage from all angles are undoubtedly our favourite. Soft and elegant—they have an old world charm that is stunning. Terrazzo can be poured on site as well as be bought in tile form. Terrazzo tiles are also available as digital print tiles, if you prefer that look.
PCC – PCC is plain cement concrete, the cheapest flooring option and gives the space an industrial vibe. A grey uniform flooring can also be tinted to create darker colours. It is budget-friendly and great for large spaces and commercial offices.
